In Support of The Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation

The Cause

URGENT help is needed for the Zeke O'Connor School in Nepal!

The Zeke O'Connor School was established in 2011 through the support of The Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation with the vision of providing quality education to under privileged students in grades 8 to 12. Since its inception, the school has been providing free of cost education to children of the Solukhumbu and adjoining districts. It is the only specialized STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program in the region.

Due to the pandemic, they are at risk of closure as there has not been sufficient funding. This year's pandemic has taught us the importance of education. Virtual education is not an option for these students and a school closure could be detrimental to their future.

The Event

A Night-In For Nepal, is a virtual culinary event featuring the sights, smells and tastes that make Nepal so special. Select one of several options, depending on your location, to either purchase, pickup or have ingredients delivered to you. Then, join us with Chef Harry Prosser of Barkada Restaurant in Toronto to cook a delicious Nepalese inspired meal together in the comfort of your homes. Ontario residents also have the option of purchasing a specially curated craft beer pairing from Avling Brewery. But act fast as this option is only available until April 3rd! All proceeds for the event will go directly to The Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation in order to keep the Zeke O'Connor School open and thriving another year.

Date: April 10, 2021

Time: 6pm - 8pm

Location: A virtual link will be sent to your email to join us from your home

About The Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation

In 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary, a mountaineer from New Zealand, summitted Mount Everest in Nepal with Tenzing Norgay Sherpa. But Sir Edmund’s summit of Mount Everest is only the start of this story. It was his interaction with the Sherpa people of Nepal, including his trekking partner, Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, that created a lifelong bond and respect for their culture and a mission to help them help themselves. When Sir Edmund Hillary met Zeke O’Connor, a former Toronto Argonauts Football player, in 1972, he imparted his love of the Sherpa people onto him. Sir Edmund and Zeke have left this earth but their legacy lives on, in part, through the work of The Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation. With the leadership of President Karen O’Connor, the foundation continues to make a difference in Nepal in the areas of Healthcare, Education and the Environment.
